Rainy Day Check Up

Hey all, it's Francis blogging. Evie has been doing very well the last two days since she came home from her epic hospital stay. She is nearly back to her regular sleeping habits (I'm sure she enjoyed 12 hours of uninterrupted sleep last night!), and slowly warming up to Gavin's bear hugs... well, okay, not really but I'm sure she will soon.

She hasn't had any huge spit-ups, but is coughing up a lot of mucus. She's very lethargic and listless. Part of this is the Ativan sedative she's being weaned off of, and part of it is just a slow recovery. She plays quite a bit, but looks very forlorn while doing it. Sometimes, she just gets a sad face and starts to cry a bit and whimper for no apparent reason, but we just comfort her and cuddle her.

Evie came home with 12 prescriptions, plus her nebulizer breathing treatment and respiratory therapy, which Sharon or I perform. I don't know how Sharon keeps track of all of them, and today she recited them all from memory at Evie's follow-up visit!

It was a windy, rainy day as we packed up Evie and her portable oxygen tank and headed back to the hospital for a followup exam. Here's the two of us in the waiting room reading the comics section:

Evie had to get some blood drawn (which required sticks in both arms because the nurses couldn't get a good vein at first) and a physical exam. Her blood work was all normal and her oxygenation level (pulse ox) was good too (avg. 77). Here's the two of us waiting for her exam, and playing with some of the toys we bought to donate to the PSHU.

She could be eating more though, so we're going to have to do some night feeds through her NG tube and a pump. Unfortunately, the pump was broken as we tried to set it up so hopefully we'll get a new one tomorrow.

Back at home, Grandma Cordes was waiting with open arms and Evie settled in for a little map after a full day.
