A Fun Summer Day

Today was a fun day. The kids slept well and woke up in happy moods. Here they are early in the morning (Evie is not quite awake):

Then they helped me empty the dishwasher and put away the clean dishes and silverware:

We went to our workout class and they played nicely and shared toys and snacks with the other kids. When we came home they both took 2 1/2 hour naps!

In the afternoon we decided to take a walk in a new spot called the Lakewalk. We've passed it hundreds of times, and today we finally walked around it. It's next to the Naperville police station on Aurora Avenue, and it turned out to be just a big lake with a path around it. There weren't a lot of people there - good if you want to take a quiet walk (you can fish there, too). I think the twins prefer (as do I) the hustle and activity over at the Riverwalk.

Gavin points out a bird. Notice Cookie Monster came along with us!

Rocks are always fascinating!

At the end of the day, Gavin had a burst of energy and zoomed his car back and forth as quickly as ever! Evie was getting tired at this point - you can hear her in the background crying, even though Gavin wasn't bothering her.

Evie suddenly started enjoying her baths again, as of Monday. I waited to mention it so I wouldn't jinx it! I put her in the water and she just started giggling and splashing like she did before her surgery. I am sooo glad! Monday marks three months exactly that she has been home from the hospital, and we are just relieved to see her once again enjoying something that she loves to do.
