Live Blogging the Surgery (Updated 3:15 PM)

We just received an update from the nurse. The team just now began the actual surgery on Evie (around 3PM). Apparently, it was very difficult to complete all of the "line work," i.e., inserting all of her IV's. Evie has had so many procedures in her short life (she's had 3 angiograms, one surgery already, and has had IV's inserted the several times she's been admitted in various NICU's) that her major arteries are occluded (i.e., narrowed) (picture) and not suitable for the IV's she needs for the surgery. Her best, largest artery (which is in her thigh) is not usable and they had to go in through her ankles. So, we're looking at 4-6 hours from 3PM now for the surgery to be over. The nurse said she'd give us another update around 4:30PM.
