Update on Day 5

It's Sharon blogging. The rigid bronchoscopy that Francis mentioned in the post below was done today, but we have not gotten the results yet. There were no real changes with Evie today. She was up for awhile when I was there today and was really trying to move around (although she's not supposed to move much - just try telling that to a 16 month old).

Back at home, Gavin spent part of the day with Nana & Grandpa Cermak again. They took two stroller walks and Gavin took a great nap! Later, when I got home, Gavin's friend Aisling and her mom Bridget came over for a play date. (Her name is pronounced "Ash-leen" and is Irish/Gaelic for "dream!") Gavin was a bit whiny. He took Aisling's sippy cup and drank/spat most of her water on his outfit. She didn't seem to mind as long as she was able to take his sippy cup - and she drank her water very nicely!

Aisling was a real sweetie and enjoyed playing with Gavin!

Now, don't get any ideas about Gavin socializing and having fun while Evie lies in her hospital bed. He is really beside himself without her here. He is not used to being the only baby in the house, and he misses all the games they play all day long. There are things they start doing together with just a gesture - not even twin-speak is required! That is how in sync they are with each other.

We made photo albums - one with pictures of Evie for Gavin to have here, and one with pictures of Gavin for Evie to have in her hospital crib. Below, Gavin is looking at Evie's photos before bedtime:

To let you know just how well Francis & I are holding up, last night I tried to change a light bulb and stripped the housing from the bulb so it was hanging by a wire (a live wire, which I didn't even know could happen). Then, just tonight, Francis was adding more window washer fluid to the car and poured it into the coolant container. (Thanks a million to Auntie Di and Uncle Kevin, who know how to fix car things and are on their way over to drain the coolant / fluid mixture.) We are tired, stressed, and worried, and are grateful for everyone's prayers. We wouldn't be getting through this without them!

Wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and he shall strengthen
thine heart. Wait, I say on the Lord.

I'm praying daily...especially for Evie and Uncle David. And I'm impressed with how together everyone looks in the pictures, especially when I can't even imagine how hard this is. "In what times I am afraid, I will trust in You."
