Day 31: Evie Is Home!!!

Yes, she is finally home, with a feeding tube, oxygen, and 12 prescriptions! We got home after Gavin was asleep (actually he was supposed to be asleep, but was fighting it - maybe he knew Evie was coming home) so the twins have not seen each other yet.

It was a long day of waiting at the hospital to make sure Evie was OK to leave today. She was alert and playful when we first arrived:

Silliness with Uncle David:

We needed 3 red wagons to get Evie and all our things to the car (Francis had schelpped half the toys from our house over to the hospital, and all Evie wanted to play with was Auntie Clare's bracelets).

One for the road!

Getting dressed:

In the wagon:

"Goodbye, PSHU!"

Playing with her piano at home:

A bottle with Daddy:

A little more with Mom, and then time for bed!

We are so grateful for everyone's prayers during the last month. To say it was an ordeal is an understatement. Evie still has a lot of healing to do, and I have to keep track of all her meds, and get used to her being attached to oxygen all the time. I truly feel that the worst part is behind us, though! Check tomorrow for the twins' "reunion" photos!

Wonderful news! So glad to read your sweetie is home now.

I used a day planner-calendar to keep track of what/when/where with everything when we brought our preemie home after each of her two hospital stays. It helped keep everything straight. I also set her meds/monitoring schedule up on a spreadsheet and checked things off as I did then because sometimes I found myself easily confused wondering - did I already do that? The day planner was great too because I could journal the little pertinent details (like how much she took in, diapers, if she vomited, how she was acting, etc.) Very useful when we had our doctor visits. The O2 tank (even the little one) was like carting around two babies that were attached to each other. You probably already know all this - please disregard if so.

I can't wait to see reunion photos of Evie and Gavin.

Continued prayers and good wishes!
